The Committee of Youth on Mobilisation and Sensitisation (CYMS) marked the 2025 United Nations International Youth Day in Abuja with a series of nationwide activities aimed at deepening youth engagement in the sustainable development agenda. Led by Chief Obinna Nwaka, who is recognised as the Best Youth Minister in Nigeria's history, CYMS remains at the forefront of nurturing informed, empowered, and action-oriented young Nigerians.

The theme for this year's International Youth Day is 'Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond.' CYMS's mission for the year is aligned with this theme, with a focus on empowering Nigerian youth as key drivers of societal transformation. Young Nigerians have made remarkable contributions in fields such as climate resilience, digital innovation, gender equality, peacebuilding, and entrepreneurship.

The Minister of Youth Development, Mr Ayodele Olawande, is praised for his efforts in developing and empowering youth nationwide to tackle community-based challenges. CYMS commended Olawande's commitment, passion, and achievements, passing a vote of confidence on him as the best Youth Minister in Nigeria's history.

To achieve this, CYMS will continue its advocacy, capacity-building programs, and nationwide outreach. The activities include youth town halls, intergenerational dialogues, leadership training sessions, digital literacy workshops, and innovation showcases across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones.

Chief Obinna Nwaka emphasised the importance of acting on youth voices, not just hearing them. He stated that the future is being built now by young people and urged stakeholders to step up support for youth-led initiatives. Nwaka also emphasised that local youth action has the potential to deliver global progress.

CYMS reiterated its dedication to inclusive, sustainable, and youth-centered policies and programs. The source has recently published articles on Agriculture, Health, Education, Features, and a job creation initiative in the geriatric social care industry.

In conclusion, CYMS's commitment to empowering Nigerian youth and deepening their engagement in the sustainable development agenda is commendable. The future of Nigeria lies in the hands of its youth, and initiatives like those by CYMS are crucial in ensuring that they are well-equipped to drive societal transformation.
