Park University is buzzing with activity as we approach the end of the academic year. Here's a round-up of some of the latest news and events happening on campus.

Educational Sessions and Presentations

Several faculty members shared their expertise at various conferences and events recently. Dr. Dianna Carmenaty, Ph.D., assistant professor of criminal justice administration, presented on "Amplifying Learning: The Power of Podcasting as an Auditory Academic Tool". Meanwhile, Dr. Adrian James, Ph.D., associate dean of the College of Management and associate professor of management, spoke about "Lessons in Leadership and Learning".

Nikki Pauls DeSimone, assistant professor of social work, and Leslie Jensby, director of the Bachelor of Social Work program and associate teaching professor of social work, discussed "The Impact of Student Learning through Simulation". Brandi Handley, assistant teaching professor of English, Courtney Rilinger, Ph.D., assistant professor of communications, and Alivia Zubrod, Ph.D., assistant professor of psychology, presented on "Teaching First Year Students: Connection, Inclusion and Belonging".

Eleven Park University faculty members also presented sessions at the Kansas City Professional Development Council's Enhancing Teaching and Learning Conference. Toni-Rochelle Ford, Ph.D., associate professor of marketing, and Stacy Yeager-Okosi, D.Mgt., associate professor of business analytics, presented on "Setting the Tone for Engagement and Belonging on Day 1: A Cross Discipline, Multi-Modal Approach".

Amber Dailey-Hebert, Ph.D., director of the Faculty Center for Innovation and professor of organizational leadership and adult learning, delivered a keynote address titled "Learning as the New Competitive Advantage".

Upcoming Events

Park University's annual Student Research and Creative Arts Symposium will be held on April 21-22, 2025. The event showcases the scholarly and creative work of students from all academic disciplines.

The Park University International Center for Music's 2024-25 season will host its final two concerts on April 25 and May 7, 2025.

Fundraising Initiatives

Park University's 2025 Giving Day will be held between noon on April 30 and noon on May 1. The Office of University Advancement has established a goal of 150 donors on Giving Day.

In celebration of Park University's 150th anniversary, the Park University Barnes and Noble Bookstore has two items on sale. A third item will be available soon.

Enrollment and Student Services Updates

Dr. Paul Orscheln, who was appointed Vice President of Enrollment and Student Services at Park University, effective March 3, has 26 years of experience in student success and enrollment, with the last 13 years at the executive level. His main responsibilities will include directing recruitment efforts, working on overarching University policies, and addressing issues of access, affordability, college readiness, and student success.

Athletic Honours

Park University athletes did not earn national NAIA weekly honours in March, except for senior baseball catcher Ricardo Hernandez and freshman Rosjai Curtis.

Partnerships

Park University has signed an agreement with KU's ROTC program for KU to provide ROTC instruction and training to qualified students at Park, effective Fall 2025.
