Two Schools Honored for Health Promotion in Wittekindskreis
The 'Healthy Schools in the Wittekindskreis' program, supported by Kreis-Gesundheitsamt for nine years, recently awarded two schools for their commitment to health promotion and prevention. The Elisabeth-von-der-Pfalz-Berufskolleg in Kreis Herford and the Ev. Grundschule Löhne-Obernbeck received the 'Gesunde Schule im Wittekindskreis' prize in 2025. Both winning schools implemented at least three health-promoting measures for students, including dental health, healthy nutrition, and social skills training at Ev. Grundschule Löhne-Obernbeck. Additionally, they each implemented one measure for teaching staff's health. The awards were presented by Renata Lleshi from Kreis-Gesundheitsamt and sports scientist Pascal Kramer. Kramer also led students through exercises improving coordination, concentration, learning ability, and motivation. Other schools recognised for their efforts include the Elisabeth-von-der-Pfalz-Berufskolleg in Herford, Grundschule in Westerenger, and Erich-Kästner-Gesamtschule in Bünde and Kirchlengern. The program supports schools in implementing health-promoting activities and offers certificates to committed institutions. The 'Healthy Schools in the Wittekindskreis' program continues to recognise and support schools committed to health promotion and prevention. Interested schools can contact Renata Lleshi or the business office of Gesundheitskonferenz for more information.
