"Transnational Encounter of German-Greek Females" or "German-Greek Girls Come Together Across Boundaries"
In the heart of Wiesbaden, a significant cross-border youth project recently concluded, with the Wilhelm-Heinrich-von-Riehl School's support association and Filoxenia, an intercultural environmental and education network from Kryoneri, taking the lead. This initiative, part of "Wiesbaden International," an initiative of the state capital to promote international youth and specialist encounters, was funded by the EU program Erasmus+.
The official event, held at the town hall, emphasized the mutual empowerment and strengthening of young women across borders. Social Affairs Commissioner Dr. Patricia Becher welcomed guests from two countries and emphasized the importance of encouraging girls to think beyond borders and take a stand. The encounter offered opportunities for exchange and new perspectives among the participants.
The reception focused on the presentation of young people who participated in an encounter. Participants presented their ideas and wishes for a fair society to the commissioner in the form of a self-designed creative work. The official event ended with a group photo and the ceremonial handover of participation certificates.
The tour of the town hall included a visit to the original staircase from 1887, the gallery of mayors, and the city council chamber. The Press Office of the State Capital Wiesbaden, located at Schlossplatz 6, 65183 Wiesbaden, published this press release. Citizens can contact the responsible department or office of the State Capital Wiesbaden with any questions.
Cross-border youth projects, such as this one, often receive funding from international donors like the European Union, UN agencies, or bilateral partners. These initiatives aim to empower youth and women, strengthen economic resilience, and promote social cohesion across borders. They typically plan workshops, dialogue forums, and community initiatives that focus on capacity building in gender equality, environmental protection, and remembrance work aimed at peacebuilding and social reconciliation.
For more detailed information about specific projects or upcoming events, it is recommended to contact regional youth or women’s networks, UNDP country offices, or peacebuilding organizations active in the cross-border context relevant to your area of interest.
