Taiwanese study opportunity for Thai students provided by BMA and Debsirin Schools Chinese Study Centre in Taiwan
In a significant move to expand educational horizons, the Education Department of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has partnered with the Debsirin Schools Chinese Study Centre. This collaboration aims to assist Thai students in applying for further studies at colleges and universities in Taiwan.
The partnership, which was highlighted in official meetings and events in July 2025, aligns with BMA's broader education and social development policies. It is part of BMA's efforts to improve educational quality and provide diverse learning opportunities for its citizens.
Two information sessions were held in December 2024 for interested secondary school students, attracting around 130 students in total. Among these, 11 BMA students were selected to continue their studies abroad as part of the 3+4 vocational programme.
This unique programme offers a combination of three months of classroom study and three months of paid internships in real-world enterprises. Students will receive a guaranteed monthly wage of 23,000 to 27,000 baht during their internships. Upon completing the vocational programme, students are eligible for a scholarship to continue their undergraduate studies in their chosen field in Taiwan.
The programme is designed to promote opportunities for students, particularly those at risk of lacking access to higher education, both at the lower and upper secondary school levels. It also aims to develop skills in modern technology-related professions and elevate future living standards.
The four-year undergraduate programme in Taiwan offers internships aligned with students' studies and pays according to Taiwan's labour laws. The students selected for the 3+4 vocational programme are scheduled to travel to Taiwan for further studies, with some students departing as early as July 16, 2025.
Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt has prioritized education development, stating that it is key to reducing social inequality. The project supports students' education and career prospects in accordance with the policies of BMA executives.
Moreover, the project is supported by scholarship funding from the Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee of the Taiwanese government. This partnership underscores the commitment of both BMA and Debsirin Schools to providing Thai students with valuable opportunities to study in Taiwan and prepare for successful careers in the 21st century.
In a preparatory camp held on December 21, 2024, at Bang Yi Khan Wittayakom School, 32 students participated (16 from BMA and 16 from other institutions). The camp provided students with essential information and prepared them for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in their educational journey.
This collaboration between BMA and Debsirin Schools is an exciting development in the realm of Thai education, offering students a chance to gain valuable skills and experiences while pursuing their academic goals.
- The collaboration between BMA and Debsirin Schools' Chinese Study Centre not only focuses on education but also extends to other areas, such as technology-related professions in the business sector.
- Apart from academics, the 3+4 vocational programme also emphasizes personal growth and learning, as students will receive real-world work experience through paid internships.
- The partnership with the Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee of the Taiwanese government provides scholarship funding, not just for education but also for the students' health and wellbeing, as seen in the guaranteed monthly wage during internships.
- In addition to improving the economy by preparing students for the workforce, this project also promotes cultural exchange, as students will travel to and study in Taiwan, immersing themselves in a different culture.
- Beyond education, this project is aimed at promoting overall development, with a focus on both learning and self-improvement, by providing diverse opportunities for students to grow and succeed in the 21st century.
