Summer vacation begins for schools!
Latitude Festival Offers a Nature-Filled Learning Experience
The Latitude Festival, held this summer, provided a unique blend of education and entertainment for families and children. The event offered a variety of activities focused on nature, science, and creativity, making it an engaging and educational experience for all ages.
Representing a trust, the author was in attendance and found the weekend to be both rewarding and exhausting. Among the highlights were the wildlife animal displays, creative workshops, bushcraft lessons, archery, a mini zoo, and educational theatre in the Enchanted Garden area. The Cosmic Shambles Forest featured science exhibits and talks from notable scientists, while movement and dance classes added to the experiential learning opportunities.
Activities were spread across several family-friendly zones, including the Kids’ Area with shows, a helter-skelter, and big-top tents, Camp Greenpeace for bushcraft and nature skills, the Enchanted Garden hosting wildlife displays, workshops, archery, and theatre, and the Cosmic Shambles Forest featuring science exhibits and expert talks.
The schools day at the festival was a nonstop whirlwind of fun. Minibeast hunting and lake dipping were among the activities, and children created nature journals in the enchanted woods and made willow jellyfish. The school visited was known for its brilliance, with new moth species such as the gorgeously golden fluffy oak eggar and the canary-shouldered thorn being caught.
A reminder for future interns: it's important to remember to bring your ticket, as you may have to drive home to retrieve it if forgotten. Overall, the Latitude Festival offered a memorable and educational experience for all who attended.
