Study Abroad Foundation Led by Spohn: A Memorable Year of Academic Journey Overseas

The Alexander Spohn Foundation has announced that applications are now being accepted for its scholarships for the academic year starting in the winter semester 2026/2027. This scholarship programme offers one-year stays abroad for graduates of Ulm's high schools and the Lessing-Gymnasium in Neu-Ulm.

Mayor Ansbacher, in his support for the scholarship, emphasises the importance of education in shaping the future. He states, "Education is the key to the future, and without good education for all, there is no equality of opportunity." He further adds that the scholarship creates future prospects regardless of social background.

The Managing Director of the Foundation, Christian Beine, values motivation over excellence. Hence, the scholarship winners will be selected based on motivation, not just academic performance. This approach aims to provide an opportunity for participants to gain international experience and deepen their studies abroad.

The application process for the seventh round is currently ongoing. Interested applicants can submit their applications via www.alexanderspohnstiftung.de/bewerbung/. The deadline for applications is September 30, 2025.

Up to five scholarships are planned for the year 2026. Last year, the five applicants awarded the scholarship were Abiturienten from Ulm and Neu-Ulm. Among them was Niko Hönig, who will study Literature-Art-Media in Portugal. The full list of all five applicants is not publicly disclosed in the available sources.

The scholarships are offered in collaboration with the DAAD Foundation, which has over 100 years of experience in organising and accompanying stays abroad. The winter semester 2026/2027 is when the scholarships will start.

Mayor Ansbacher encourages young people to apply for the scholarship and use the opportunity it provides. He believes that the scholarship will not only be beneficial for the individual but also for the community as a whole.

So, if you are a graduate from one of the eligible schools and are looking for an opportunity to broaden your horizons, apply for the Alexander Spohn Foundation scholarship today!
