Students Gain Job Interview Skills in 'Fit for the Job Interview' Program

Students from vocational schools in Region Kassel recently participated in an innovative online job interview training program, 'Fit for the Job Interview'. This initiative, organized by the Berufspatenprojekt in collaboration with local youth employment services and the Chamber of Crafts Kassel, aimed to equip young people, often with migration or refugee backgrounds, with essential job application skills.

Eleven experienced mentors from diverse fields acted as sparring partners, providing feedback and tips after each mock interview. Students could book appointments with fictional companies via a dedicated booking portal. Despite initial technical hiccups and some appointment cancellations, the project was deemed successful. It supported students from seven vocational schools in the city and the organization in their transition from school to work life.

The Berufspatenprojekt, a voluntary experience-sharing initiative, is seeking more experienced volunteers from the city and the organization to act as mentors. Interested individuals can contact Brigitte Vogler at +49-561-1003-1275 or via email at [email protected]. The project aims to continue next year, further aiding young people in their professional development.

The 'Fit for the Job Interview' training program successfully equipped students with vital job interview skills. Despite minor setbacks, the project was considered a success and plans to continue next year. The Berufspatenprojekt encourages more experienced volunteers to join as mentors, further strengthening the initiative's impact on young people's transition into the workforce.
