struggle for equilibrium: Regain Equilibrium and Satisfaction for High Achievers

High performers, such as Teresa, often find themselves at the pinnacle of success, yet feeling unsatisfied and exhausted. Teresa, a thriving businesswoman with a loving partner, two kids, and million-dollar contracts, was no exception.

Teresa's success never felt like enough, and she constantly sought the next win. However, her relentless pursuit of achievement led to burnout, with her work spilling over into family time and her phone always in hand. Even during family dinners, Teresa found herself replying to emails, and during bedtime stories, she would snap at the people she loved.

Teresa confided in her coach that she had everything she thought she wanted but didn't feel satisfied and was exhausted. The root of her burnout was traced back to her unconscious habits, emotional patterns, and beliefs. The first step to reclaim control and clarity for Teresa was to access and clear the emotional residue of her unconscious drivers.

Teresa discovered that she was torn between two conflicting parts: one that wanted to be present with her children, and the other that feared that stopping driving hard would cause everything she'd built to fall apart. By giving herself permission to say no to opportunities that didn't align with her values, Teresa was able to integrate these conflicting parts and no longer feel torn.

Teresa explored her personal values to find joy and meaning, which helped her move away from burnout. Her top personal values were connection, freedom, and creativity. With this newfound understanding, Teresa's workweek was redesigned to prioritize her values. She blocked time for creative thinking and protected space for family.

Achievement without internal alignment leads to burnout for high performers like Teresa. However, when high performers reclaim their values, release outdated beliefs, and resolve inner conflicts, they become unstoppable. Fulfillment is the foundation for sustainable success for high performers, and for Teresa, success became sustainable and fulfillment became her daily reality.

Diana Lowe, CEO of Blue Light Leadership, helps organizations transform employee engagement through Positive Psychology and Coaching. Diana's methods were instrumental in Teresa's transformation, enabling her to find balance and harmony in her life. If a high achiever feels unfulfilled, they don't need to do more; instead, they need to come home to themselves for success to become sustainable and fulfillment to become their daily reality.
