Eutin Wisser Run 2022: A Celebration of Community and Inclusion

The picturesque town of Eutin, Germany, played host to its annual community running event, the Eutin Wisser Run, on July 4th. Approximately 110 students, along with a guest team from Haus am Priwall, participated in the event around the Little Eutiner Lake.

The event, renowned for its inclusive spirit and celebration of athleticism across all ages and abilities, saw participants competing in various categories. Ranging from shorter fun runs and children's races to longer distances such as 5K, 10K, or half-marathons, the event catered to runners of varied skill levels.

The fastest girls' team, consisting of ninth-graders, completed the nearly 9-kilometer course in 49 minutes. On the boys' side, two teams from the seventh and eighth grades competed, with the seventh-grade team emerging victorious with a time of 35 minutes and 50 seconds.

Teacher Kirsten Lux, the event organizer, expressed the importance of team sports and interaction with other institutions. She thanked all helpers and supporters, including local clubs, schools, and organizations that contributed volunteers and logistical support.

The school's own medical team provided safety assistance on the course, ensuring the well-being of all participants. The guest team from Haus am Priwall was warmly welcomed by the students, teachers, and cafeteria team members. Kirsten Retzlaff, a supporter of the cafeteria team, praised the students' interactions.

The event contributed to a good 'we-feeling' and good social behavior, according to Kirsten Lux. Participants could compete individually, in pairs, or in threes, and could also bring family members to strengthen their team.

After the race, the school's cafeteria team offered drinks and snacks, with Mirko Fähling organizing sponsorship from "Schwartauer Werke" for energy bars. Two ladies from the cafeteria team assisted Mirko Fähling, while he also provided drinks, bananas, and snacks for the athletes.

Both sides hope for further cooperation for more inclusion and tolerance after this first joint event. The Eutin Wisser Run continues to play a significant role in promoting physical activity, wellness, and social interaction within the Eutin community, while also highlighting the town’s local culture and natural beauty.

For more specific details like upcoming race dates, registration info, or results from prior years, these are usually available on the event’s official website or through local community centers in Eutin.

The community running event, Eutin Wisser Run, not only emphasizes athleticism but also fosters education-and-self-development through interaction with other institutions. Despite being a sports event, it promotes unity and cooperation, even encouraging teamwork among students and the guest team from Haus am Priwall in sports activities around the Little Eutiner Lake.
