Schools in Delhi forced to evacuate after bomb threat; police launch investigation
In the past week, multiple Delhi schools have been targeted by a group calling itself "Terrorizers 111," who sent bomb threats via email demanding cryptocurrency payments and claiming to have planted explosives and breached school IT systems.
On Monday, 32 schools received these threatening emails, followed by over 50 schools on Wednesday. Smaller numbers of schools continued to receive threats on Thursday and Friday, marking the fourth incident within the week.
Fortunately, all these threats have been declared hoaxes after thorough checks by the police, fire department, and bomb disposal squads. No explosives or suspicious items were found.
Upon receiving these threats, schools immediately evacuated students, staff, and parents. The Delhi Police, fire personnel, and bomb disposal squads were promptly deployed to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
The Delhi Government has sought a detailed report from the police and has asked schools to be vigilant and inform parents immediately of such a situation. Schools have also started organizing mock evacuation drills as part of emergency preparedness.
In addition to immediate responses, the police are conducting investigations to track and curb the group sending these threatening emails. Security drills and heightened vigilance are being implemented across schools in Delhi. Coordination with schools is also ongoing to monitor and upgrade IT security to prevent hacking or data breaches mentioned by the perpetrators.
While these emails disrupt normal school functioning and instill fear, current official reports emphasize the importance of taking every alert seriously while confirming that the threats so far have been hoaxes.
Some parents expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of direct communication from the school authorities. However, the Delhi Police and bomb disposal squad rushed to the sites and declared the buildings safe after thorough searches.
Experts believe that these frequent hoax threats interfere with education and generate unwarranted panic. The Delhi Government and police are working diligently to ensure the safety of students and staff and to bring those responsible for these threats to justice.
