Saudi Arabia-focused expansion of Egyptian educational technology startup Farid, secured through a $1.2 million partnership aimed at training 4,000 users.

In a significant move, Egyptian ed-tech startup Farid has established a foothold in Saudi Arabia, marking a significant milestone in its growth journey. The strategic partnership, worth SAR4.5 million (US$1.2 million), was signed by Farid Academy and the Amad Association for Human Capacity Development.

Founded by Mahmoud Hussein in 2024, Farid offers a unique educational and psychological methodology that aims to train 4,000 children and adults in Saudi Arabia. The partnership aligns with the goals of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, which emphasises the importance of education and human development.

As part of the partnership, Farid will provide one-on-one sessions for character-building and mental health support for Arab children aged between three and 18. The sessions are designed to empower young minds, fostering resilience and emotional intelligence.

The expansion into Saudi Arabia comes after Farid raised US$250,000 in pre-seed funding from Saudi businesswoman Amal bint Abdulaziz Al-Ajlan last September. This funding will support the establishment of a central operations office in Riyadh, from which Farid will manage its operations in the Kingdom.

Farid also offers training for youth and graduates to become certified trainers in its educational and psychological methodology. This initiative aims to create a network of trained professionals who can deliver Farid's programmes across Saudi Arabia.

The three-year strategic partnership is part of Farid's expansion strategy ahead of a forthcoming seed round. The details of the connection that led to this partnership in Saudi Arabia remain undisclosed. Nevertheless, this partnership marks a significant step forward in Farid's mission to empower Arab children and adults through education and mental health support.
