Announcing the 2025 Climate Change Summit Awards

The Climate Change Summit Awards is set to return for its second edition, promising to recognise and support innovative solutions to climate change from youths, PhD students, SMEs, and NGOs across Central and Eastern Europe.

This year's summit, taking place from October 20 to 25, will delve into a wide range of themes, including circular economy, water management, rural transition, regenerative agriculture, biodiversity, sustainable finance, energy security, geopolitics, urban development, cleantech, and the role of science and research in addressing climate change.

The main day of the summit, on October 21, will focus on global climate topics. The event will occur at the Palace of the Parliament and various locations in Bucharest, Romania, and Central and Eastern Europe.

The summit is free and open to the public, with limited access based on application. Participants can learn from dozens of international speakers, engage in roundtable discussions, and network. Tickets for masterclasses and exclusive events will soon be available for purchase.

The confirmed international speakers and thought leaders for the 2025 Climate Change Summit include a diverse group of global leaders, ministers, CEOs, experts, and activists from various countries and organisations. Notable confirmed speakers are:

  • Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment of UAE and Member of the UAE Cabinet
  • Magdalena Jabłońska, co-founder and figure in climate change and sustainability
  • Johannes ten Broeke, European Commissioner for Climate, Net Zero and Clean Growth
  • Michel Heijdra, Director General for Climate and Energy, Netherlands
  • James Screen, Deputy Director for Greenhouse Gas Removals, UK
  • Veronika Elgart, Head of Bilateral Climate Agreements, Switzerland
  • Hanna Ojanen, Head of Carbon Markets and Policy, Carbo Culture
  • Alexander Mäkelä, Chief Policy Officer, Carbon Gap

In addition, various ministers for environment, energy, and climate adaptation from countries like Senegal, Luxembourg, Panama, Vanuatu, and France are involved as key speakers in the broader IUCN World Conservation Congress forum linked with climate issues.

Dr. Scott Kelly, Senior Vice President at Risilience, is a confirmed speaker and economist who advises governments and global companies on the transition to a low-carbon, resilient future.

Cosmin Vladimirescu, General Manager of Mastercard Romania and Croatia, highlights Mastercard's involvement in developing solutions to reduce environmental impact and investing in digital infrastructure for greener, more resilient, and inclusive economies. Azadeh Farajpour Javazmi, founder of "betterSoil - for a better world," is a confirmed speaker who works to improve soil quality for climate resilience and environmental protection.
