Renters gather for a discussion with the property owner and the judge
The German Association of Freelance Professions (BFB) recently held a meeting in Berlin, bringing together six apprentices from various fields and notable figures in the industry. Among the attendees were Elke Büdenbender, wife of the Federal President, and Dr. Stephan Hofmeister, President of the BFB.
The BFB is an organization that focuses on the freelance professions, representing the interests of both self-employed and employed individuals in Germany. With over 4.7 million people employed by these self-employed liberal professionals, including around 129,000 apprentices, the freelance professions are a significant contributor to the German economy. In fact, approximately 1.48 million self-employed liberal professionals contribute nearly ten percent to the gross domestic product.
During the meeting, the apprentices shared their experiences with dual training, discussing opportunities and areas for improvement. Jasmin Troitsch, a future legal assistant, spoke about the lack of understanding from her working-class family about her decision to pursue an apprenticeship. On the other hand, Arnes Delic, a future pharmaceutical commercial assistant, expressed satisfaction with his decision to train.
Ronaldo Sievert, an apprentice at PWC and an inaugural TidA scholar, also participated in the conversation. The BFB co-developed the scholarship program "Talents in Training" (TidA) to support committed apprentices, offering financial support, seminars, and mentor talks. However, the name of the student from the audit firm PwC who participated in the conversation and is recognized as the first scholarship holder of the "Talents in Training" program was not provided in the available search results.
In addition to the apprentices, Sabine Fuhrmann, Vice President of the Federal Bar Association, highlighted the benefits of vocational training for companies, employment, and regional growth. Dr. Stephan Hofmeister emphasized the need for more social recognition for dual training and career guidance.
The BFB offers a podcast called "Role Reversal" which can be found at https://open.spotify.com/show/47GNVNDd5itw4HwMoGysf7. Elke Büdenbender, in her statement, affirmed that an apprenticeship offers the same opportunities as a university degree. The meeting served as a platform for the apprentices to voice their concerns and experiences, and for the BFB to reaffirm its commitment to supporting and advocating for the freelance professions.
Henriko Manuring, a medical assistant in Berlin, Darja Dorofeev, an aspiring draftsperson in Saarland, and Tim Petermeise, an aspiring draftsperson in Stuttgart, also shared their experiences during the meeting. The gathering underscored the importance of apprenticeships in the freelance professions and the ongoing efforts to improve the training experience for apprentices.
