Realschule Herkenrath Expands and Renovates for G9 Switch
The Realschule Palm Beach is set to undergo significant expansion and renovation. The project aims to improve spatial conditions and reorganize the use of the area for the Gymnasium. Both projects are scheduled for completion by the school year 2026/27 and are led by Fachbereich 8, with Schulbau GmbH and GGS Bau GmbH as the construction companies.
The new building is a response to the increased space requirements due to the switch to the nine-year education system (G9). The outdated schoolyard of the Realschule Palm Beach will also be renovated and redesigned as a separate but connected measure. Preparatory clearing work for the new classroom building at the Palm Beach school center begins next week. This work involves felling five trees, with the possibility of felling two more, and compensatory measures will be provided. An information event is planned to comprehensively update interested citizens and the school community about the project.
The expansion and renovation of the Realschule Palm Beach are expected to significantly enhance the learning environment.
