Ready for the Job Interview
In the heart of Kassel, a unique three-week online event named "Fit for the Job Interview" recently concluded, offering invaluable opportunities to students from various vocational schools. This training programme, organised by a mentoring project in collaboration with the youth employment service and the Chamber of Crafts Kassel, aimed to prepare students for job interviews, with a particular focus on those from BUÄ classes.
While the mentoring project, titled "Tandems for a Time," primarily focuses on supporting young people with migration or refugee backgrounds in transitioning from school to work life, it did not specifically collaborate with the "Fit for the Job Interview" training programme.
The "Fit for the Job Interview" training provided students with the chance to book online job interviews with fictional companies or businesses via a booking portal. These interactive sessions proved to be a first for many participants, offering them a valuable learning experience. After each interview, students received constructive feedback and tips for further job-hunting activities.
The "Fit for the Job Interview" training was funded by the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration, and the mentors involved concluded that everyone learned a lot and found the training enjoyable. Despite some initial technical difficulties and missed appointments, the program was well-received and agreed to be continued next year.
For those interested in getting involved, coordinator Brigitte Vogler can be reached at Tel.: 0561−1003 1275 or Mail: [email protected]. More information about the mentoring project can be found on its website, www.ourwebsite/berufspatenprojekt.
The mentoring project is currently seeking more life- and work-experienced volunteers from the city and the organisation to join its ranks. It's an excellent opportunity for individuals to share their knowledge and make a positive impact on the lives of young people in their community.
While the "Fit for the Job Interview" training offered online job interviews and feedback sessions, the mentoring project "Tandems for a Time" does not. Instead, it provides one-on-one mentoring and support to young people as they navigate the transition from school to work life.
As we look ahead to the future, it's clear that initiatives like these are playing a crucial role in equipping young people with the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the job market. With the continued support of organisations like the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration, and dedicated individuals volunteering their time, the outlook for these young people is undeniably bright.
