"RAD Initiates 'Bailey's Pledge,' Offering to Equip All American K-12 Schools with Advanced AI Firearm Identification Technology at No Cost"

Robotic Assistance Devices (RAD), a subsidiary of Artificial Intelligence Technology Solutions, Inc., has taken a significant step towards enhancing school safety by submitting its AI-driven firearm detection software for designation under the SAFETY Act through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

This submission, if approved, would grant the software the status of a Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology, providing important liability protections to RAD and the institutions, particularly K-12 schools, that implement the technology. The SAFETY Act designation aims to support anti-terrorism technologies by fostering effective solutions and extending legal protections under U.S. law.

RAD is actively promoting its firearm detection software through initiatives like "Bailey's Promise," offering no-cost software licenses to every K-12 school nationwide. This expansion of RAD's earlier campaign, Bailey's Gift, which donated firearm detection hardware to a limited number of schools, demonstrates strong support and efforts towards rapid adoption.

Bailey's Promise, named in honour of Bailey Holt, a 15-year-old who was tragically killed in a school shooting in 2018, offers each school a free license covering up to 10 camera connections. The system identifies visible firearms in fractions of a second and autonomously executes predetermined response protocols, helping schools respond in real time before a situation escalates.

Each school's system will have a one-time $499 onboarding fee and a $99 monthly service cost for proper configuration and support. Schools or districts can expand coverage at a discounted rate of 50% off the standard per-camera license fee.

Secret Holt, Bailey's mother, has been a passionate advocate for RAD's mission and has played an active role in both the Bailey's Gift and Bailey's Promise campaigns. Steve Reinharz, CEO/CTO and founder of AITX and RAD, stated that Bailey's Promise gives every school the power to detect firearms before a tragedy unfolds.

Schools that enroll in Bailey's Promise can apply the software to their existing camera systems. The software works with most modern IP-based security cameras and requires no special hardware or reconfiguration.

As of August 2025, the firearm detection AI software has been formally submitted for SAFETY Act designation but has not yet received final designation approval according to publicly available 2025 reports.

Meanwhile, DMP, another subsidiary of AITX, has introduced JamAlert, a detection device to combat the growing threat of illegal cell jammers.

Artificial-intelligence technology, specifically RAD's firearm detection software, is being utilized to advance education-and-self-development institutions' safety measures by offering a free real-time firearm detection system, Bailey's Promise, to all K-12 schools in the U.S. This learning tool, named in honor of a school shooting victim, identifies guns and autonomously responds in fractions of a second, aiding schools in reacting promptly before a crisis escalates.
