Rabbi Natan Levy Takes Up Role as Campus Rabbi for Syracuse Hillel and Jewish Chaplain at Hendricks Chapel
Rabbi Natan Levy Brings Scholarship and Leadership to Syracuse University
Rabbi Natan Levy, a renowned scholar and community leader, has joined Syracuse University as the campus rabbi for Syracuse Hillel and Jewish chaplain at Hendricks Chapel. Before his move to Syracuse, Levy served as head of operations for the Faiths Forum for London and senior lecturer at Leo Baeck College in the United Kingdom.
Born in California, Rabbi Levy earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in religious studies from Pomona College. He later pursued advanced degrees, including a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Jewish Studies from King's College and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in environmental theology from the University of Bristol.
Rabbi Levy's academic background equips him with a deep understanding of how religious teachings relate to environmental responsibility and ecological issues. His work distinctly combines environmental theology scholarship with active interfaith leadership. He has published works such as "Genesis 1-11, the Rise of Agriculture and the Earliest States" and co-authored "Sharing Eden: Green Teachings from Jews, Christians and Muslims."
In his scholarly contributions, Levy is recognized for exploring the theological foundations of environmental stewardship and promoting interreligious understanding with a focus on ecological sustainability.
