Pupil's Accomplishment: Finishing School in Bottrop
Last Friday, five students successfully completed their intermediate school-leaving certificate at Volkshochschule Bottrop, marking a significant milestone in their lives. The certificate ceremony took place in the courtyard of the local cultural centre, with Holger Gruner, director of VHS Bottrop, and Christiane Dahlkamp, head of department, in attendance.
Teachers Uwe Becker, Jürgen Kassubek, and Michael Pissarczyk congratulated the students on their achievement, while Gruner encouraged them to continue seizing opportunities. The participants, now equipped with the knowledge necessary for their careers, are well-prepared to enter the world of training and work.
With their new certificates, the students are eligible to apply for jobs or further training. They can choose to start vocational training/apprenticeships immediately, pursue further qualifications that enable university entrance, or combine vocational training with studies to earn higher degrees.
For instance, with an intermediate school-leaving certificate, students are eligible to apply for vocational apprenticeships in various fields such as industrial clerk positions or office management assistant roles. Completing vocational training linked to the intermediate certificate provides excellent job prospects, especially in shortage occupations like care, skilled trades, and IT.
Additionally, the intermediate certificate can be a stepping stone to higher education entrance qualifications, such as the entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences or other vocational qualifications that qualify holders to begin university studies in specific fields.
In some cases, to enroll directly in bachelor's degree programs like Business Administration, an intermediate school-leaving certificate alone is typically not sufficient; however, it may become sufficient if combined with a recognized vocational training course completed with good grades or equivalent work experience. This pathway allows students to pursue degrees such as Bachelor of Arts in programs offered by private universities of applied sciences.
The students, full of confidence after receiving their certificates, are now ready to start their careers. Gruner wished the graduates all the best for their future path, expressing his belief that they are well-prepared for their entry into the world of work.
The graduates, now equipped with the higher learning gained from their education-and-self-development at Volkshochschule Bottrop, can apply for jobs or continued learning opportunities. With their newly acquired certificates, they are eligible to start vocational apprenticeships, further their qualifications, or combine vocational training with university studies to earn higher degrees.
