Promoting the pursuit of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) amongst the youth

In a recent development, six partners, including the World Acre, have come together to form the MINT cluster in Landshut, Germany. This diverse MINT cluster, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, aims to expand extra-curricular MINT educational offerings for children and young people aged 10 to 16 in the city and Landshut district.

Claudia Weindl, education manager at the MINT service center of the city of Landshut, and Dr. Maximilian Müller-Härlin, responsible department head at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, are leading the Europe-wide cooperation 'Future Workers - all MINT talents' in the Landshut region. Other partners of the MINT initiative include Silicon Vilstal, the neighborhood meeting point DOM, the MINT Forum Bavaria, the University of Applied Sciences Landshut, and the MINT service center of the city of Landshut.

The World Acre in Landshut, located behind the University of Applied Sciences Landshut, serves as a hub for the cluster's activities. Covering an area of 2,000 square meters, the World Acre aims to provide what is available per person for food, energy, and clothing, cultivating the globally most important crops proportionally to their global cultivation area.

The MINT cluster's events will be offered more actively for children and young people in the city and district in the future. These events will be accessible online at www.zukunftswerker.la, where all MINT offers from the region can be booked.

Many volunteers are involved in the cluster, which makes Müller-Härlin particularly happy. The cluster will further strengthen its cooperation with communities, schools, and companies to ensure a comprehensive and engaging learning environment for the young participants.

The MINT cluster's goal is to inspire and educate the next generation of scientists, technologists, engineers, and mathematicians, equipping them with the skills necessary to tackle the challenges of the future. With the formation of this cluster, Landshut is taking a significant step towards fostering STEM education and nurturing young talents.
