Green Shoe and Clothing Drive by Aventinus Elementary School
Primary School in Abensberg, Aventinus, Donates Shoes for Kolping Action
The students of Aventinus Elementary School, inspired by Principal Andrea Brandl and their dedicated teachers, embarked on an eco-friendly mission. They raided their homes and the school on Römerstraße, looking for shoes they no longer needed, and bundled them together. Two environmental representatives per class took the lead, sorting and organizing the footwear. They also gathered wearable clothing for a charity drive.
On the day before the collection, class 3b and their teacher Anneke Sinzinger joined forces, loading the bags full of donations. Support poured in from Konrad Listl of the Kolping Family Abensberg, who arrived with a truck borrowed from the city's building yard. Mrs. Sinzinger, known for making the school a "Green School," was the driving force behind these initiatives.
Aventinus Elementary School, the first elementary school in the Kelheim district, held the title of "Environmental School in Europe - International Sustainability School" during the 2022/23 school year. The school hoped to secure this coveted title once more in the current school year.
