In a recent development, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has donated two 25-KVA generator sets and 15 gang chairs to the Cebu Technological University (CTU) Main Campus. This marks another collaboration between the two institutions, aiming to support the Power Plant Engineering subjects at the university.

The donation was formalized with a signed Deed of Donation, which was attended by Marjorie Cabrieto, PhilHealth Regional Vice President, and Gregorio Pajaron Jr., DM., JD., CTU Campus Director. The equipment was turned over to CTU on July 18, 2025.

The donation was made by PhilHealth Regional Office VII to CTU, with no other items included besides the specified generator sets and chairs. The donated generator sets have a capacity of 25 kilovolt-amperes (KVA), providing a significant boost to the university's infrastructure.

While no new information about the location of the turnover event or the signing of any additional documents was provided, RVP Cabrieto encouraged CTU officials to seek accreditation for their school clinic under PhilHealth's Konsulta Program. This initiative aims to benefit both students and university personnel by expanding access to primary healthcare services.

PhilHealth occasionally supports educational and healthcare-related initiatives across the Philippines, aligning with its broader goal of improving healthcare access. If a collaboration were to focus on healthcare, it could significantly enhance access to medical services for students and the broader community, especially under PhilHealth's programs like Konsulta.

Such partnerships could also provide CTU with opportunities for research and education in healthcare, potentially training future healthcare professionals. If CTU were to collaborate with PhilHealth on accrediting school clinics under the Konsulta Program, it could ensure that these clinics meet PhilHealth standards, providing reliable healthcare services to the community.

In May 2024, PhilHealth donated a 20-year-old corporate vehicle to one of CTU's campuses in southern Cebu. This act demonstrates a form of support for educational institutions, potentially enhancing their infrastructure and services.

At present, specific historical details about the collaborative efforts between PhilHealth and CTU are limited. However, this latest donation underscores the ongoing relationship between the two institutions and their shared commitment to improving education and healthcare in the Philippines.

  1. The government entity, PhilHealth, has expressed an interest in furthering their collaboration with Cebu Technological University (CTU) in the realm of education-and-self-development and healthcare, specifically by encouraging CTU officials to seek accreditation for their school clinic under PhilHealth's Konsulta Program.
  2. The equipment donated by PhilHealth Regional Office VII to CTU for the Power Plant Engineering subjects, including two 25-KVA generator sets and 15 gang chairs, reinforces the positive impact of technology on CTU's learning infrastructure.
  3. With PhilHealth's commitment to supporting educational and healthcare-related initiatives across the Philippines, a potential partnership between PhilHealth and CTU on healthcare-centric projects could lead to improved learning opportunities in health and the provision of enhanced healthcare services for both CTU students and the broader community.
