Park University's Homecoming Events Set for September 13th to 15th, 2018
Park University Homecoming Weekend 2018: A Celebration of Achievements and Traditions
Park University is gearing up for an exciting Homecoming Weekend from September 13 to September 15. During this three-day event, Parkville Campus will be bustling with alumni, their families, and friends, as they gather to celebrate the university's rich history and bright future.
The weekend's activities kick off on Thursday, September 13, with the Ed Bradley Sports Medicine Center Dedication and Tour. Taking place within the Mabee Learning Center/Academic Underground from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., this event is open to the public and will offer a glimpse into the state-of-the-art facilities that will support Park University's student-athletes.
Thursday evening also marks the induction of esteemed individuals into the Park University Athletics Wall of Honor. The banquet and unveiling ceremony will take place at the Park Distance Learning Conference Center at 6:30 p.m.
On Friday, September 14, the festivities continue with the 150th Anniversary Kickoff Event at S.D. Strong Distilling, starting at 3:30 p.m. Later in the afternoon, the Special Observance of the Copley-Thaw Hall Centennial will take place at 2 p.m.
The Park University Alumni Association Awards Luncheon, held at the Courtyard by Marriott Kansas City at Briarcliff, will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. This year's honourees include Joseph Geeter III, a 1999 graduate, who will receive the Marlowe Sherwood Memorial Service Award, and Parisa Fetherson, a 2006 graduate, who will receive the Distinguished Alumnus Award. Unfortunately, the specific awards given at the luncheon and the recipients of those awards have not been disclosed.
Sports enthusiasts can look forward to a women's soccer match at noon, followed by the men's soccer match at 2:15 p.m. These matches will take place at Julian Field. The Crowning of Homecoming Royalty will take place during the halftime of the men's soccer match, approximately 3 p.m.
Admission for the volleyball match against Ottawa University, scheduled for September 13 at 7 p.m. at the Breckon Sports Center, is $5 for the general public, $3 for senior citizens, $2 for active military, and free for Park University alumni with valid ID cards.
On Saturday, September 15, women's soccer and men's soccer matches against Lindenwood University-Belleville will take place at Julian Field.
Throughout the weekend, some events will be reserved for Park alumni and their families, while others, such as the Ed Bradley Sports Medicine Center Dedication and Tour and the women's volleyball match against Ottawa University, are open to the public.
