Orientation Day at the Indian Institute of Art and Design in 2023
The Indian Institute of Art & Design (IIAD) kicked off the new academic year on July 22, 2023, with an orientation day filled with inspiration, excitement, and a dash of tradition at the Sri Sathya Sai International Centre in Delhi.
The event commenced with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony, symbolising the guiding light of knowledge. Naghma Sahar, the chief guest, initiated the ceremony, followed by Mr. Ajit Chadha, Dr. Jitin Chadha, and Prof. Usha Nehru Patel, the Director (Academics) of IIAD.
Ms. Simrat Joshi, the Dean of Academics, presented an engaging overview of the institution's cutting-edge facilities and state-of-the-art resources. She highlighted the numerous opportunities in the field of design that extend beyond conventional career paths, touching upon the concept of the Metaverse, a realm where the virtual and real collide.
The orientation day attracted enthusiastic students, proud parents, and dignitaries such as Naghma Sahar, Dr. Jitin Chadha, Professor Usha Patel-Director (Academics), and Ajit Chadha.
The event was designed to cater to students from Undergraduate Design, Undergraduate Fashion Business Management, and Postgraduate Fashion Business Management (FBM). Prof. Usha Nehru Patel shared insights on the importance of creativity as a catalyst for transformative ideas, while Dr. Jitin Chadha emphasised the importance of being proactive and taking charge of one's education. He assured students they would be provided with all the means to pursue their dreams.
Naghma Sahar, in her address, acknowledged the hall as a symbol of hope and filled with the brilliance of fresh minds. She inspired students with her enthusiasm for design pursuits, emphasising the importance of embracing technological advancements such as Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning.
The event concluded with a delightful high-tea fostering a sense of fellowship within the institution's community. Mr. Sundeep Ramudamu, the Director of IIAD, extended his vote of thanks to all attendees for making the Orientation Day memorable.
As the institute continues to inspire the creative leaders of tomorrow, it is creating an indelible mark in the world of design business. The Orientation Day has undoubtedly ignited a spark of creativity, passion, and determination among the fresh batch of students, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in their design journey.
