Neuwied joins the Fairness Week 2025, focusing on equality and diversity.
The nationwide 'Fair Week' is returning for its 24th edition from September 12th to 26th, organised by Engagement Global in cooperation with Weltladen-Dachverband e.V. and Fairtrade Deutschland e.V. This year's theme is 'Trade Fair. Experience Diversity.' During this action week, various events are taking place across the country, inviting people to learn about fair trade from different perspectives. Neuwied, one of the 'Fairtrade Towns' since 2018, is also participating in the festivities. In Neuwied, the kick-off for events is on Tuesday, September 23rd, with a sustainability forum on the Neuwied market square as part of the 'Neuwied joins in' event series. The forum will take place from 4 pm to 8 pm. For those interested in expanding their cooking skills while learning about responsible consumption, the 'Fair Cooking' cooking course is a must-attend event. This cooperative venture with the Energy, Climate, Environment department is taking place at the Neuwied district adult education center (kvhs) on Monday, September 29th. Registration for the course is possible via kvhs. Neuwied's Fairtrade steering groups of the city and district are also participating in the action week. On Wednesday, September 24th, the 'Minski' cinema in the Schauburg cinema will show the film 'Made in Bangladesh' at 8 pm. This impressive documentary provides a look behind the scenes of the textile industry, including exploitative working conditions and the fight of women for their rights. Several events in Neuwied invite people to learn about sustainably produced products during the Fair Week. World shops, schools, and initiatives are all participating in this educational and engaging action week. Join the Fair Week 2023 and learn more about fair trade, sustainable consumption, and the importance of diversity in our global economy.
