Library in Kenton County encourages children's intellectual development over summer vacation via yearly summer reading program
The Kenton County Public Library's Summer Reading program is in full swing, inviting children, teens, and adults to join and help prevent summer reading loss while fostering a culture of reading at home. This six-week initiative runs through July 31, 2025, and offers a variety of fun activities, prizes, and incentives to keep participants engaged.
To participate, simply pick up a paper reading log at any Kenton County Public Library branch or use the Beanstack app to track daily reading progress digitally. Log each day that you read a book, magazine, or article online. There is no residency requirement, but prizes must be picked up at a Kenton County Public Library location.
The library uses the Beanstack platform to manage reading challenges, making it easy to log reading, track progress, and distribute prizes to encourage continued participation. Participants earn guaranteed prizes simply by reading each day, and they also earn chances to win Visa gift cards, providing added incentive beyond the daily rewards.
Youth (ages 0-12) can earn entries into $50 Visa gift card drawings for every 5 days of reading. Teens and adults (ages 13 and up) can earn additional entries into a $100 Visa gift card grand prize drawing for every 5 days of reading. On select days, the library offers free lunches for children and teens.
Participants of all ages can also earn guaranteed prizes and chances to win Visa gift cards by reading a little each day through July 31. Teens and adults (ages 13 and up) who read for 15 days can choose an insulated water bottle or canvas tote. Youth (ages 0-12) who read for 15 days can receive a T-shirt or canvas tote and coupon pack.
The Kenton County Public Library offers free, fun activities for the whole family, including air-conditioned play areas, board games, computer access, creative maker spaces, and engaging programs. By participating in the Summer Reading program, families can not only help prevent summer learning loss but also enjoy a summer filled with learning, fun, and prizes.
