Join 'Berufspaten': Mentor Young People in Kassel

The 'Berufspaten' project, active since 2008, is seeking more volunteers to mentor young people in Kassel as they navigate their early careers. Currently, 21 young individuals are being supported, with many already in apprenticeships and some still searching for a suitable position.

The project, part of the 'Tandems on Time' program, aims to pass on professional knowledge and life experience to help young people, often with migration or refugee backgrounds, transition from school to work. Mentors assist mentees with career orientation, job applications, internships, apprenticeships, and interview preparation, often continuing the support even after the mentee starts work.

The project offers job interview training in seven schools. Carina Wetekam, a 10th grader at Gustav-Heinemann-Realschule, recently had her first job interview. Professional mentors Bernhard Boss and Ernst Blömeke conducted the interview, assessing her appearance and understanding of the job profile. The mentors provide honest feedback and tips tailored to real job applications.

The 'Berufspaten' project is looking for more volunteers from the city and the organization to mentor young people starting their working lives. Interested parties can contact coordinator Brigitte Vogler at 0561-1003 1275 or via email at [email protected] for more information. Further details are available at www.our website/berufspatenprojekt.
