New ISC Class 12 Mass Media and Communication Syllabus Unveiled for 2025-26
The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has announced the revised syllabus for ISC Class 12 Mass Media and Communication for the academic year 2025-26. The syllabus aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of various forms of media and communication, and their convergence.
Key Components of the Syllabus
The syllabus covers a wide range of topics, including advertising for television, film stages, camera angles, new media, media convergence, journalism, cinema, social media, television, radio, and communication and social change.
Advertising for Television
Students will learn about the meaning and process of advertising for television, including planning, scripting, casting, shooting, post-production, approval, and delivery. They will also understand the functions of advertising and the different types, such as cross-promotion, merchandise, infomercials, bumper ads, sponsorship, and call to action.
Film Stages
The syllabus delves into the pre-shooting, shooting, and post-shooting phases of film stages.
Camera Angles
Various types of camera angles, including eye level, low angle, high angle, ground level, Dutch angle, aerial, close-up, bird’s eye view, will be covered.
New Media
Students will gain an understanding of new media, including websites, apps, podcasts, and smartphones, and their characteristics, advantages, disadvantages, and socio-political implications.
Media Convergence
The meaning, importance, benefits, and dimensions of media convergence, including technological, textual, social, and political, will be explained with examples.
Project Work
The project work requires the completion of two projects from any allied topic covered in theory, such as scriptwriting, creating documentaries or videos, reviews, advertisement campaigns, social media campaigns, case studies, or field visits/investigations.
Other Topics
The syllabus also covers journalism, cinema, social media, television, radio, communication and social change, and various media regulatory bodies and their objectives. It aims to sensitize and bring about an awareness of online hazards and Internet safety, and create an awareness of the role of the media in bringing about social change.
The syllabus provides a detailed exam pattern, course structure, and marking distribution laid down by the board. A list of project work suggestions, including developing a script for a radio advertisement, producing a documentary, creating an advertising campaign, creating a PowerPoint presentation, choosing a social media campaign, creating a fiction story, writing a film review, and using a camera or mobile phone to create a video story, has also been provided.
