In Minas Gerais, a series of potential property transfers and legislative proposals are under discussion, aiming to alleviate the state's financial burdens and improve infrastructure.

The Relator, Doorgal Andrada, has provided a favorable opinion on the constitutionality, legality, and juridicality of PL 3.733/2025, a bill that authorizes the state to transfer properties to the federal government in order to offset its debt. The bill, currently held in the Constitution and Justice Commission for over a month, could potentially enable the state to transfer up to 58 properties, most of which are located in the interior.

One of the properties under consideration is the Central State building, located in the Lourdes neighbourhood, South-Central region of Belo Horizonte. The Federal Institute of Minas Gerais (IFMG) has expressed interest in using the building, but has not yet communicated this to the Union's Heritage Secretariat, which is responsible for evaluating the properties offered by the government of Zema to offset the debt.

Another property under discussion is the Risoleta Neves Hospital, currently managed by the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) since 2006. The Secretariat has not yet signalled interest in the hospital, and the UFMG has not responded if it was consulted about the transfer of the property where the hospital is installed. The hospital has been experiencing operational challenges, including superlotação, leading to restrictions on its services.

The Assembly has authorized the federalization of the Company for Economic Development of Minas Gerais (Codemig), among other proposals. Tadeuzinho is awaiting a response from the Union on the interest in federalizing Codemig, and if the Union's evaluation reaches 20% of the debt, it may not be necessary to include assets such as real estate, UEMG, Cemig, and Copasa in the negotiations. The National Treasury Secretariat is still analysing Codemig for potential incorporation.

The authorization for the transfer of real estate to the Union faces resistance from both state deputies from the opposition and the government's own base. The expectation is that the 60 properties will yield R$2.7 billion, potentially providing significant financial relief to the state. However, for a detailed understanding of the current status and potential financial implications of these transfers, further specific information or updates from official sources would be required.

The Federal Institute of Minas Gerais (IFMG) could expand its influence in the education-and-self-development sector by potentially acquiring the Central State building. Meanwhile, the finance industry might be impacted by the potential property transfers, with a potential revenue generation of R$2.7 billion for Minas Gerais.
