Interactive Scavenger Hunt Game for Educators: Insights and Utilization Strategies, Plus Useful Tips and Techniques
GooseChase EDU is revolutionising the way students learn, by turning lesson plans into engaging scavenger hunts. This education-focused version of the popular GooseChase app offers a unique blend of learning and fun, making education more accessible and enjoyable.
The GooseChase EDU Games Library houses thousands of missions, catering to various subjects, grade levels, and game types. These missions can be used as they are or customised to fit the specific needs of a class. The library is meticulously organised by grade level, subject, and game type, including indoor, outdoor, virtual, and group games.
Students can compete individually or as part of teams, adding an element of friendly competition to the learning process. GooseChase EDU encourages active learning by allowing students to snap photographs, record videos, answer questions, and even enjoy an escape room or video game-like experience while learning class material.
GooseChase missions can be timed and can require students to travel to specific GPS coordinates or remain text-based. For instance, during field trips, GooseChase can serve as a fun alternative to a reaction paper, requiring students to document their visits to key objects or areas through photographs and brief written responses.
The app also allows students to earn points by taking pictures and videos of specific locations or objects, which can be utilised for various educational purposes such as interviews or library scavenger hunts.
GooseChase EDU offers two subscription plans for educators - the Basic and the Plus plans. The Basic plan, which is free, allows one live game at a time and has a five-team limit with five mobile devices per team. The Plus plan costs $99 per educator per year and provides access for 10 teams and up to 40 participants in individual mode. For larger districts and schools, custom rates are available upon request. There's also a Premium plan, priced at $299 per educator per year, which allows up to 40 teams and 200 participants in individual mode.
The app was co-created by Andrew Cross, who previously worked in Product Design for Apple, ensuring a user-friendly and intuitive interface. GooseChase EDU is available for free at GooseChase.com/edu.
In addition to its educational uses, the non-education version of GooseChase is frequently used for team building in conferences, orientations, and corporations. By gamifying lesson plans, GooseChase EDU facilitates active learning, encourages collaboration, and fosters a competitive spirit among students, making learning an exciting and engaging experience.
