Interactive Resource for Family Health Management
In the heart of Bamberg, the Ost Youth Center played host to a MiMi Health Day, a significant event as part of the meeteinander project's leisure festival. This day was designed to provide low-threshold access to professional advice and practical tips for everyday family life, with a particular focus on the mental health of children and young people.
The event was coordinated by MiMi-Bavaria, an intercultural health project that has had a presence in Bamberg for 13 years. This project, known as "With Migrants for Migrants - Intercultural Health in Bamberg (MiMi-Bavaria)", promotes health literacy among migrants through multilingual and culturally sensitive education. The organization, MiMi-Bavaria, is an initiative of the Ethno-Medical Center e.V., with funding from the Bavarian State Ministry of Health, Care, and Prevention and support from MSD Sharp & Dohme GmbH.
Marina Glasunova, Anca Marza, Tatjana Schell, Yvonne Rüttger, and Sarah Scheller were available to answer questions and provide information in German and other languages. If necessary, interpreters could cover other languages for MiMi-Info Events. These events are held in 12 different languages, including Arabic, Armenian, Chinese, English, French, Kurdish, Persian, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, and Ukrainian.
The day was filled with interactive activities, such as a sugar exhibition, a mega floor newspaper with a hepatitis C quiz, and an oversized tooth model for demonstrating dental hygiene skills. The Bamberg Health Department, a long-standing cooperation partner of the MiMi project, was also present, offering valuable insights into low-threshold health offers for families in the Bamberg region.
In addition to MiMi-Bavaria, other organisations were present to offer support and resources. The state-recognized counseling center for pregnancy issues at the Bamberg District Office provided comprehensive, free, and confidential support for all questions related to pregnancy, childbirth, family planning, and life with a child. The "Klarwerk - when everything sucks" program, a joint project that provides important information and support for psychological stress for children, young people, and families in the Bamberg region, was also present.

The MiMi-Bavaria project has been active in Bamberg for 13 years, with the coordination office at the Bamberg City Office for Inclusion training numerous engaged and well-integrated migrants as intercultural MiMi mediators.
The MiMi-Bavaria project covers 20 different topics, including the structure of the German healthcare system, child health, diabetes, and old age and care. By offering information in multiple languages and through culturally sensitive education, MiMi-Bavaria is making a significant contribution to the health and well-being of migrants and families in the Bamberg region.
