Highlighting the EIOH community member: Dr. Shreyans Dhanuka
In the vibrant city of Rochester, a young man named Shreyans 'Shrey' Dhanuka is preparing to embark on an exciting new journey as a pediatric dentist. Before stepping into the world of dental care, Shrey has honed his skills and developed a unique perspective during his time at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health (EIOH) GPR Residency Program.
Shrey is known for his resilience, compassion, and selective extroversion, qualities that have served him well in the challenging world of healthcare. One particularly challenging experience involved a patient with a limited mouth opening, jaw twitching, severe gag reflex, and a large, muscular tongue. Despite the difficulties, Shrey approached the situation with grace and determination, learning valuable lessons that have undoubtedly shaped his future practice.
Outside of the dental chair, Shrey prioritises his three F's: family, food, and a futuristic vision. He cherishes the time spent with his loved ones and enjoys exploring the culinary delights of Rochester. His passion for the unconventional extends beyond the dinner table, with a love for dancing and scuba diving. When he's not exploring the depths of the ocean or moving to the rhythm of music, Shrey can often be found scrolling through Instagram, keeping up with the latest trends and sharing his own experiences.
One of Shrey's favourite spots in Rochester is the river campus, a place that perfectly encapsulates his love for nature and Romanesque architecture. The serene surroundings provide a welcome respite from the bustling city life, offering a moment of tranquillity amidst the hustle and bustle.
During his time at EIOH, Shrey has not only developed a strength and voice to vocalize concerns and develop quality improvement skills, but he has also gained more confidence in his abilities and skills. The rich history and diverse international student body at EIOH drew Shrey in, and he has undoubtedly grown both personally and professionally during his time there.
As Shrey looks towards the future, he has yet to reveal his plans after graduating from the GPR Residency Program. One thing is certain, though: this resilient, compassionate, and selectively extroverted individual is poised to make a significant impact in the world of pediatric dentistry.
Shrey Dhanuka's exceptional journey in healthcare and dentistry at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health (EIOH) GPR Residency Program has not only equipped him with unique skills, but also sparked an interest in education-and-self-development and learning. He has gained valuable insights through challenging experiences, which he intends to apply in science-based health-and-wellness fields to create a positive impact. His future plans might include further exploration and research in these areas, drawing from his passion for continuous growth and understanding.
