Herford's Schools Shine in 'Healthy Schools' Program
The 'Healthy Schools' program has been promoting health and well-being in Herford's schools, with a recent award ceremony at Ev. Grundschule Loehne-Obernbeck. The initiative, supported by the Kreis-Gesundheitsamt for nine years, offers free services and advice to students and staff.
Ev. Grundschule Loehne-Obernbeck received the 'Healthy School' award for implementing multiple health-promoting measures. These included activities on dental health, nutrition, and social training, led by external experts. The school also benefited from exercises led by sports scientist Pascal Kramer, which enhanced students' coordination, concentration, and motivation.
The Elisabeth-von-der-Pfalz-Berufskolleg, another recipient, has extensively adopted health measures. These range from promoting physical activity and sports education to creative projects and health-focused weeks. The program 'Gesunde Schulen im Wittekindskreis' supports schools in integrating such activities, offering regular certificates to committed institutions.
The 'Healthy Schools' program, led by Renata Lleshi, continues to emphasize the role of schools in fostering health for successful learning and personal growth. Ev. Grundschule Loehne-Obernbeck, along with other schools like Elisabeth-von-der-Pfalz-Berufskolleg, Grundschule in Westerenger, and Erich-Kaestner-Gesamtschule, have demonstrated their commitment by implementing at least three health measures and one for staff during the project period.
