Guidance on Surviving Finals Week from Holy Cross
Holy Cross Students Prepare for Finals Amidst Winter Chill
As finals week approaches at Holy Cross, students are bracing themselves for the challenges that lie ahead. With the expected temperature decrease, studying in the library may add an extra layer of difficulty.
To help alleviate some of the stress, Holy Cross's Dinand Library has extended its hours until December 16th. During finals week, the library will offer extended hours, including late-night access, to accommodate student study needs. However, the exact hours for finals week and when Winter Break Hours begin have not been announced yet. It is recommended to check the library's official website or contact them directly for the most accurate and current details.
In the meantime, the library is hosting a special exhibit celebrating the 50th anniversary of co-education at Holy Cross. The exhibit is a must-see for those interested in the history of the university.
In an interview, Genevieve Garlaneau '21 shared her study experiences in Dinand Library. "I love the atmosphere here," she said. "It's always quiet and there's a sense of focus in the air."
The library also offers Drop-in Citation Frustration Stations to help students with their research needs. Sessions are scheduled for December 6th, 8th, 10th, 12th, 15th, and 15th, both in-person and via Zoom.
Mental health and wellbeing are important contributors to academic success during finals season. Students are encouraged to take care of themselves and seek help when needed. Campion offers chaplain talks and therapy dogs for students to visit, while relaxation-focused campus events, massage chairs at Ciampi, and treats at Cool Beans are also options to consider.
In addition, students are encouraged to schedule an appointment with the Writers Workshop for writing support. Relaxation and wellbeing are key to performing well on exams, and these resources can help students manage their stress levels during finals season.
On December 16th, the library will be open from 7am to 6pm. On December 8th and 15th, the library will be open from 8:30am-2am, while from December 9th to December 12th, the library will open at 7am and close at 2am. On December 13th, the library will be open from 7am to Midnight.
Winter Break Library hours will begin on December 17th. It is important to note that during the break period, the library will have reduced or limited hours.
