Gucci Announces 2025 Scholarship Recipients and Grant Awardees
In the realm of fashion and creativity, Gucci's Changemakers initiative continues to make a significant impact. This year, six nonprofits have been awarded the Impact Fund grants, while ten students have been selected for the Gucci Changemakers Scholarship Program.
The Impact Fund, one of three coordinated tracks of the Changemakers initiative, supports nonprofits that make creativity tangible at street level. This year's recipients include Urban Harvest in Houston, Inner-City Arts in Los Angeles, Breakthrough Miami, Hopebound in Atlanta, Positively Arts in Las Vegas, and ArtsConnection in New York. These organisations are making a difference by converting vacant lots into teaching gardens, keeping after-school studios buzzing, pairing teenagers with college mentors, and strengthening youth wellbeing through art and performance.
The Scholarship Program, open to current or incoming college students majoring in marketing, art, design, or a related field in North America, offers up to $20,000 to those with bold ideas. Applicants were required to submit a concise 250-word essay demonstrating the connection between creativity and courage, including a personal anecdote to show their hard work and willingness to try and fail. The application deadline was February 9, 2023.
Meanwhile, the Creative Fellows program offers funding to individuals with personal projects. Past scholars are using this funding to scale their projects, reflecting Gucci's long-term commitment to creating lasting social impact both within fashion and beyond.
In a separate endeavour, Gucci is also supporting the rise of Newark-based BrownMill Co. through filmmaker Anya Dillard's documentary titled Atelier.
For those interested in applying for future programs, the most up-to-date information can be found on equilibrium.gucci.com. The house's commitment to fostering industry change and building stronger connections through community action is evident in their various initiatives.
In 2019, Gucci launched the global Changemakers program to reflect this commitment. Designer Gideon Gomm is another example, with his twenty-two-look collection named Development II: Heonsin, studying Korean craft and commitment.
The Gucci Changemakers Scholarship Program and Impact Fund are just a few ways Gucci is making a difference, inspiring creativity, and fostering positive change.
The Gucci Changemakers Scholarship Program, focused on educational and self-development, offers financial aid to North American students majoring in fields related to creativity, providing up to $20,000 to individuals with visionary ideas. On the other hand, the Impact Fund, a part of the same Changemakers initiative, supports fashion-and-beauty and lifestyle projects by granting funds to nonprofits that make creativity accessible at grassroots levels.
