Goodwood's new Art Foundation landscape will be designed by Dan Pearson.

In the heart of West Sussex, the Goodwood Art Foundation is gearing up for its grand opening in May 2025. Nestled within the 11,000-acre Goodwood Estate, this not-for-profit organisation promises to be a cultural hub like no other.

Dan Pearson, renowned landscape designer, has been appointed to bring the Goodwood Art Foundation to life. His design concept focuses on creating a serene, naturalistic environment that seamlessly blends art with nature. The 70-acre woodland site will transform into a sculpture park, with artworks carefully integrated into the landscape, fostering a harmonious dialogue between art, nature, and history.

Visitors can expect a unique immersive experience as they navigate through forest glades, showcasing sculptures and opening up to breathtaking views within a natural setting. The landscaping will promote accessibility year-round, fostering a sense of wellbeing and creativity.

The Goodwood Art Foundation's mission is centred around three pillars: Art, Environment, and Education. The landscaped site will support environmental wellbeing by maintaining and enhancing the natural woodland habitat, providing a setting to connect artists and audiences with nature. Educationally, the Foundation aims to inspire lifelong learning and creativity across all ages and abilities through engagement with art in this carefully designed natural environment.

In addition to the sculpture park, the Goodwood Art Foundation will feature a selection of carefully curated international artworks. The Western Amphitheatre will host schools, groups, and open-air performances in the summer. Visitors can also take a break at designated areas of rest and contemplation, or make use of the estate's on-site holiday accommodation.

The Goodwood Estate offers a range of other attractions, including a historic motor circuit, a Battle of Britain airfield, and one of the country's oldest cricket grounds. The estate's health club and sustainable restaurant, offering a seasonal menu, are also available for visitors.

The Goodwood Art Foundation's commitment to the environment extends to its farm, which is one of Europe's largest lowland organic farms. Dan Pearson will also create a biodiverse scheme as part of the landscape development project.

Stephen A. Schwarzman, a generous donor, is proud to support the Goodwood Art Foundation, particularly its historic landscape. With just over a year to go, anticipation is high for this exciting new cultural destination.
