Ghanaian authorities ink agreement with Indian company Posspole to enhance agriculture technology and electronics sector
The Government of Ghana and India's Posspole Pvt. Ltd. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on electronics manufacturing and smart agri-tech solutions, with a focus on localized product co-development and deployment in West Africa. This partnership aims to drive growth in both sectors by establishing manufacturing capabilities in Ghana and introducing smart agricultural technologies to improve productivity.
The collaboration represents a strategic push by the Ghanaian government to boost its electronics value chain alongside agricultural development, leveraging Indian technological expertise through Posspole. The key details of the partnership include joint creation of electronics and agri-tech products tailored to local needs, setting up electronics manufacturing facilities in Ghana to promote domestic production and technological independence, and the integration of advanced agricultural technologies designed to enhance farming productivity and sustainability in the region.
The initiative will be implemented under a public-private partnership model, combining co-investment in local manufacturing, PPP-led rural infrastructure projects, and joint centres of excellence for skill development and technology transfer. The first phase of the partnership, scheduled for August-September 2025, will finalize execution strategies and begin pilot projects. Pilot projects will include agri-drone field trials in select Ghanaian regions and the setup of electronics assembly units.
Posspole Pvt. Ltd. is proud to be part of Ghana's journey to become West Africa's agri-tech and electronics hub. Key focus areas of the collaboration include container-based modular farm housing, solar-powered irrigation systems, precision agriculture using drones, smart public infrastructure, and electronics assembly for devices such as laptops and servers. The partnership aims to make Ghana a hub for agri-tech and electronics in West Africa.
The agreement was signed between Dr. Peter Boamah Otokunor, Minister and Presidential Advisor for Agriculture and Agribusiness, Republic of Ghana, and Kiran Rudrappa, CEO of Posspole Pvt. Ltd. Dr. Peter Boamah Otokunor stated that the initiative aligns with Ghana's ambition to become a manufacturing and innovation hub for West Africa while boosting youth employment and rural productivity. Access to advanced technology and skills will accelerate Ghana's agricultural transformation and industrial base, according to Dr. Peter Boamah Otokunor. Kiran Rudrappa, CEO of Posspole, stated that the partnership will advance agriculture, grow industries, and build skilled talent in Ghana.
Follow-up visits and review delegations are scheduled in the coming months to finalize factory sites, assess pilot results, and chart the joint ecosystem roadmap. The third phase, post-November 2026, will target full-scale product deployment, regional exports, and ecosystem scaling. This partnership is expected to accelerate agricultural modernization, rural infrastructure development, and electronics manufacturing in West Africa, fostering economic growth, job creation, and technology transfer in the region.
