"Explore C.S. Lewis's profound yearning for the divine in a free learning session led by Jerry Root"
The Forum of Christian Leaders (FOCL) is set to hold a captivating master class on Saturday, 7 December, focusing on the works of C.S. Lewis and the human longing for God. This insightful session, titled "C.S. Lewis and the longing for God: The Gospel and deep felt need," will be conducted on the Zoom platform.
Jerry Root, professor of Evangelism and Leadership at Wheaton College and director of the Evangelism Initiative, will lead the master class. Participants can join from the comfort of their homes or in groups from church settings.
The master class aims to delve into the nature of desire and longing as depicted in Lewis’s works, exploring how he connects human yearning with the divine. It will also cover themes of joy, beauty, and transcendence in Lewis’s theology, providing biblical and philosophical foundations behind his ideas.
Practical implications for Christian spirituality and discipleship will also be discussed, with the goal of deepening participants’ appreciation of Lewis’s insights into the human heart and its ultimate fulfillment in God.
Understanding and recognizing these longings in one's own life, as stated by the FOCL, will make one better at connecting the Gospel to the deep-felt needs in the hearts of all they meet.
The FOCL is also known for organising the annual European Leadership Forum conference in Wisla, Poland. Registration for the 2025 gathering is already open.
