Breaking News: New Cohort of Nursing Trainees Join DRK Harburg
DRK Harburg, a renowned healthcare provider in the southern Elbe region, Billstedt, and Hamm, has welcomed 15 new nursing trainees to its ranks. This brings the total number of trainees currently at DRK Harburg to 23.
The new recruits are set to embark on a four-year journey, aiming to graduate as competent and compassionate nurses. Among them, eight are pursuing Master’s or Bachelor’s degrees at HAW Hamburg, a testament to the growing demand for advanced nursing education.
Wolfgang Frank, the DRK nursing training manager, expressed his delight at welcoming this many trainees at once, a first in his tenure. Thorben Goebel-Hansen, the DRK nursing business manager, shared Frank's sentiments, believing that while the new trainees may not solve the nursing shortage, they will certainly contribute to it.
DRK Harburg offers a unique range of nursing situations through numerous cooperations. These include hospices, senior living and care homes, various hospitals throughout Hamburg, the highly specialized wound care area, the palliative care team, and the ambulance and emergency service. These cooperations provide the trainees with diverse and enriching experiences.
The celebration of the new trainees was attended by Harald Halpick, a board member of DRK Harburg. Halpick expressed his excitement about the number of trainees, stating that it showcases the high regard for DRK Harburg's nursing training.
After graduation, there is a potential offer for a permanent position at DRK Harburg. Goebel-Hansen is proud of the valuable contribution DRK Harburg makes to complex and specialized nursing training, and he believes that the new trainees will be well-equipped to face the challenges of the nursing profession.
In response to increasing demands, universities such as HAW Hamburg have established their own nursing degree programs. Nursing offers many career opportunities, and these new trainees are poised to make a significant impact in the field.
