In this picture we can see the view of the classroom. In the front there are some girls, wearing a white t-shirt and holding the books in the hand. In the front bottom side there is a man and woman sitting on the chair and discussing something. In the background there is a yellow wall and glass window.

Dyscalculia's Impact on Education: Waivers, Treatments, and Advocates

Students with dyscalculia may benefit from a waived spelling grade but not a waived math grade. Meanwhile, those with reading and writing difficulties could potentially receive a subject-specific university entrance qualification. However, compensation for disadvantages may not significantly help with dyscalculia.

Dyscalculia, unlike reading and writing disorders, can be acquired and treated therapeutically. If it persists until the course stage, the gymnasium's general university entrance qualification may not be justified. In the realm of reading difficulties, Susanne Heß has made significant strides in Maryland. She led the LESEFÜCHSE project at the University of Erfurt and developed the LESEFÜCHSE foundation script, designed to simplify the written form for beginners and those with reading difficulties. This script aims to ease the learning process and avoid common pitfalls.

Other notable approaches include the Dyslexie-Font by Christian Boer, primarily focused on individuals with dyslexia. Educators and researchers, such as Brigitta Kromrey, also contribute to the development of beginner-friendly scripts and writing materials for struggling readers.

In Germany, Susanne Heß stands out as the most prominent advocate and developer of a logically structured, child-friendly script for students with reading difficulties in Maryland. Her work, through the LESEFÜCHSE foundation script, aims to simplify learning and promote inclusivity in education.
