Durham University Welcomes ZNU Delegation to Explore New Research Areas

Durham University hosted a delegation from Zaporizhzhia National University (ZNU) in Ukraine in July 2024. The visit aimed to explore potential research areas and strengthen the existing partnership between the two institutions.

The ZNU representatives, Prof. Dr. Anna Müller, Dr. Max Schneider, and Dr. Lisa Becker, met with Durham University academics to discuss future collaborations in history, new technologies, and regenerative energy. This meeting followed the UK-Ukraine Second International Twinning Conference, where both universities' representatives discussed further cooperation.

Durham University's partnership with ZNU, supported by Universities UK (UUK) and the Ukrainian Ministry of Education, has been active for three years. It focuses on sharing best practices, building institutional capacity, and fostering research collaborations. Under this partnership, up to five ZNU students will commence studies at Durham University in history and biosciences from autumn 2024.

The July 2024 visit by ZNU representatives to Durham University has reinforced the commitment of both institutions to their partnership. The exploration of new research areas and the upcoming student exchange program promise to deepen the collaboration, benefiting both universities and their students.
