Customs trainees commence at Erfurt Central's Hub: 25 aspirants kick-start their custom career
The Main Customs Office Erfurt is set to welcome new trainees and students next year as part of its ongoing commitment to nurturing young talent. Dana Schleußinger, the head of the Main Customs Office Erfurt, announced that 19 trainees will begin a two-year training program for future senior customs secretaries, and 6 will embark on a three-year dual bachelor's degree for future customs inspectors, starting on September 1, 2026.

The trainees and students will undergo practical phases in various departments of the Main Customs Office, as well as at customs offices and sometimes at the Customs Investigation Office in Dresden. The theoretical training for the middle service will take place at the Customs School in Erfurt, and for the higher service at the Federal Higher Education in Münster.
On September 1, 2025, 25 individuals began their training and dual bachelor's degree at the Main Customs Office Erfurt. Nationwide, around 1,700 young people started their training or dual bachelor's degree with the customs service on the same day. In Erfurt, 11 women and 14 men were welcomed by Dana Schleußinger.
