Computer programming platform Codemonkey broadens its services by launching new high school coding courses, thereby offering a comprehensive K12 computer science education curriculum.

CodeMonkey, a renowned provider of game-based coding education, has launched an expanded K-12 computer science curriculum tailored for high school students. This comprehensive offering includes courses that teach fundamental computer science concepts and programming skills, primarily through Python and web application development using Brython.

The Intro to Computer Science course is designed to introduce high school students to the foundational principles of computer science. It combines programming with non-programming units, emphasizing creative problem-solving and real-world applications. Students will complete hands-on projects that develop practical coding skills, using Python as the main programming language. The course also covers digital information concepts, such as binary representation and compression algorithms.

The AP Computer Science Principles (AP CSP) course is aligned with the AP CSP Course and Exam Description, preparing students for the AP exam by developing computational thinking and core programming concepts. It teaches Python with scaffolded lessons that build up students' skills incrementally, culminating in building real web applications using Brython. Students will also create performance tasks with graphical user interface (GUI) interaction as part of their exam preparation.

CodeMonkey's high school courses are not limited to these two offerings. They also include basic game and web development, introductory artificial intelligence, and preparation for the AP Computer Science Principles (AP CSP) exam. The courses are designed to be interactive, offering challenging projects and teacher-friendly resources.

The new high school courses provide a unified solution for administrators and directors of education, streamlining curriculum planning and implementation across the district. CodeMonkey's curriculum ensures a consistent, standards-aligned learning experience for students at all grade levels, supporting the district's entire computer science and AI education journey.

CodeMonkey's mission is to make coding education enjoyable, intuitive, and effective for each student. The curriculum equips students as young as 5 with coding, typing, digital literacy, and AI skills to navigate the digital world. No prior coding experience is required, making it suitable for both school and home use.

With these new high school courses, CodeMonkey aims to make computer science accessible and engaging for all students and educators. The high school program introduces students to programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, providing a solution for students from introductory block-based coding to advanced text-based coding and AP-level courses.
