Bridge of Weir & Polestar Team Up for Sustainable Luxury in Polestar 3

Bridge of Weir, a Scottish manufacturer renowned for its luxury automotive upholstery, has partnered with Polestar, the Swedish-Chinese electric car company, to offer sustainable material choices for the Polestar 3. This collaboration reflects both companies' commitment to sustainability and luxury.

Bridge of Weir, under the leadership of Sales Director James Muirhead, believes in providing customers with a choice between natural and synthetic materials, as long as they are produced sustainably. This approach aligns with Polestar's aim to offer the best and most sustainable materials for their vehicles.

The company considers skin as an upcycled material, adding value to animal skins that would otherwise go to waste. Muirhead clarifies that skin is a by-product of the meat industry, debunking common misconceptions. Bridge of Weir adheres to strict sustainability standards while producing luxurious skins.

Polestar customers can choose between traceable, chrome-free, animal welfare-certified Nappa leather, bio-attributed MicroTech vinyl, or animal welfare-certified wool for the upholstery of their Polestar 3. This variety caters to different preferences while maintaining a commitment to sustainability.

Bridge of Weir uses Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to compare suppliers and help consumers make informed choices. The company also uses locally sourced materials, water from a nearby loch, and energy from a thermal plant for conscious processing. They welcome partners and stakeholders to visit their facilities, promoting transparency in their production process.

Through their partnership, Bridge of Weir and Polestar demonstrate that luxury and sustainability can coexist. By offering customers a choice of sustainable materials and maintaining strict production standards, they set a new benchmark for the automotive industry.
