BC Gets Major Boost in 2025 PNP Allocations, Adding 1,254 Nominations

British Columbia has received a significant boost in its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) allocations for 2025. The province, which has already recovered 69% of its 2024 nomination slots, will now have 5,254 nominations available, up from 4,000. This increase comes amidst a federal reduction in overall immigration numbers and PNP allocations.

The additional nominations will support the BC PNP, helping the province nominate skilled immigrants for permanent residence. They will be used to meet local labor market needs and economic priorities, aligning with British Columbia’s strategies. So far in 2025, the province has issued 568 invitations through the Skills Immigration category and 86 through the Entrepreneur Immigration category.

British Columbia is the latest province to receive an increase in nominations, joining Alberta, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Saskatchewan, Yukon, and Northwest Territories. The province plans to use the extra nominations to process a portion of the 2,240 waitlisted International Post-Graduate (IPG) Stream applications received in 2024, beyond the usual IPG applications.

The increase in nominations for British Columbia is a positive step towards meeting its labor market demands and economic goals. With the additional 1,254 nominations, the province is well-positioned to attract and retain skilled professionals, entrepreneurs, and high economic impact candidates, contributing to its diverse and thriving economy.
