More than half of Nizhny Novgorod's residents are actively participating in corporate programs and online courses, demonstrating a commitment to lifelong learning. This proactive approach is further reflected in the 33% of residents learning to use AI tools, and 39% considering data design and analysis a key skill.

The study also revealed a high value placed on soft skills, with critical thinking being highly valued by 66% of residents, and emotional intelligence being considered important by 52%. This emphasis on both hard and soft skills indicates a well-rounded approach to career development in the region.

Nizhny Novgorod residents are also keeping a keen eye on labor trends, with 30% tracking them closely. They obtain information about in-demand competencies from various sources, including media, career platforms, and professional communities.

The region shows a particular interest in fields such as agriculture, robotics, and cybersecurity. In fact, 57% believe in the demand for cybersecurity developers, and 41% highlight programming as a key skill. This focus on technology and security aligns with the nationwide trend, as 65% of respondents consider cybersecurity a highly demanded field.

The II International Symposium "Creating the Future" will be held on October 7-8, 2025, in Moscow, with over 7,000 participants from different regions, including Nizhny Novgorod. This event will focus on future changes in the labor market, providing a platform for experts to share insights and strategies for navigating these shifts.

Despite the potential impact of AI on the job market, 49% of Nizhny Novgorod residents think that AI will not fully displace their jobs. This sentiment is mirrored nationwide, as 64% of residents find working with AI as a key skill, and 66% believe in the demand for AI and machine learning.

Experts from hh.ru have noted a shift towards hiring based on skills, rather than formal diplomas, in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This trend towards skills-based hiring is likely to continue as the labor market evolves, making lifelong learning and adaptability even more crucial.
