Active for Democracy and Tolerance Competition 2025: A Showcase for Exemplary Civil Society Engagement
The Federal Agency for Civic Education is organising the "Active for Democracy and Tolerance" competition 2025, a platform to make the diversity of civil society engagement for democracy and tolerance visible and to network exemplary projects. The competition, which is open for applications until April 1, 2025, welcomes projects that promote democracy, tolerance, and active citizenship.
To participate, applicants must submit their project descriptions online. All information regarding participation conditions can be found here.
Projects that have been funded by federal funds, are not yet completed, have taken place exclusively within school lessons, have taken place exclusively outside the Federal Republic of Germany, or have been carried out exclusively by full-time employees are excluded from participation. No documents sent by post can be considered.
The original selection process was scheduled to take place in July 2025, but has been delayed due to a delay in filling jury positions from politics. The final selection of prize-winning projects will be made by a jury consisting of representatives from civil society, the federal government, politics, and science. The jury for the 2025 competition includes Kathleen Urbanski (Lausitz TV), Dr. Sebastian Herke (GWC), Dr. Andreas Baumgärtel (Lions Club), and Matthias Loehr (Cottbuser Aufbruch).
Prize winners will become part of the nationwide Active Network, offering annual qualification and networking opportunities. Additionally, prize money of up to 10,000 euros can be won. Participation in the competition presupposes consent to report on the projects.
All applicants will be informed as soon as a decision on the Active Prize Winners 2025 has been made.
