16th Annual University Collections Conference Asks: 'Is Collecting Timely?'

The 16th Annual Conference for Scientific University Collections, themed 'Is collecting timely?', is set to take place from 9 to 11 October 2025. The event, organized by the central collection coordinators of the Berlin University Alliance and the Society for University Collections e.V., will explore the relevance of collection practices at universities. It will commence at 11:00 am on 9 October 2025 and will include exclusive collection visits and insights into a joint digital collection platform.

The conference will delve into the fundamentals of collection practices, inviting experts from science, culture, and politics to question and discuss the topic. Journalists are invited to participate and can register by 8 October 2025 with Dr. Kerstin Wagner via email. The event will span across several locations in Berlin, including the Free University of Berlin, the Technical University of Berlin, the Humboldt University of Berlin, and the Charité - University Medicine Berlin.

Exclusive collection visits are offered during the conference, with visits to the Free University of Berlin and the Technical University of Berlin scheduled on 10 October 2025 between 3:00 and 6:00 pm. The conference will also provide insights into the joint digital collection platform of the Berlin University Alliance, enabling combined access to over 125 teaching and research collections of the four partner institutions.
